Working through your depression; good words to follow

Me: I tried to call you a couple of times yesterday but you never answered.

Them: I was so sad and depressed yesterday. I just didn’t want to see or talk to anyone.

Me: Would talking to me make you feel worse?

Them: Oh no! I never really thought about it but talking to you would have made me feel so much better.

Moral to the story: No matter how depressed and sad you get, or how much you feel the need to isolate and be alone, always leave your phone turned on and charged and answer the door when we knock, even if it’s just to yell through the closed door that you’re okay. You’ll be surprised how much the love of  friend can pick you up and dust you off, no matter how depressed you are.

If you feel a depression coming on go ahead and call a trusted friend and ask them to call or stop by to check on you. You’ll be glad you did.
